Never 12
60My wife sometimes flits from one emotion to the next. And so, a few days back, after being elated about one thing, I saw her turn blue for an instant and muse about something sad in her past. She put on this sad clown face and said: "I've never been 12."
Now that's one we can use. The whole idea of never being 12. I suppose anything is possible? Some would say, I've missed the point, the Oprah moment, but since the emotion was brief and underdeveloped (as usual). I've decided to exploit it - here:
Never 12
I was never 12
no siree not me
I've never been
that age before
throughout my history
I have friend who has
never been 15,
he skipped that year
entire
went straight on thru to
16 years. when his 14th
expired
My twelve lessness
may not be - so unusual at all
And despite the gap and that missing year -
Ive grown up straight and tall
I do not feel the least bit
strange, so certainly it is true
I've safely thru
the birthdays passed ( excepting 12)-
from one to 22.
My wife came up with two other spontaneous outbursts this week, she said: "come on and take the dog for a walk, he's tagging his wale!" Now there are possibilities there. When I drew attention to these addled oddities in speech of late she said "but I muved my luther" I may leave that one alone. There may be something in the water. But that's ok. Let's add some more.
By the way, I don't consider myself a poet. Real poets are another breed. I just make little rhyming word machines. And if they are built right, they fly well. There are more on my website.
